Nathan Beauvais, CFP®, CIMA®, CPWA®
CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® Professional
Nathan often compares his life to a triangle: in one corner is his career, in another is his band, and finally, there are the people he loves. After graduating from Bishop Hendricken High School, he first pursued a music career, teaching music lessons for 10 years while playing in several local bands and attending Rhode Island College for music performance. Later, he changed majors, graduating with a bachelor’s in finance.
Nathan became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® in the summer of 2018 and more recently a Certified Investment Management Analyst® in 2022. He has served as president of the Financial Planning Association of RI, where he provides pro bono financial planning services to members of the community.
Nathan has been instrumental in driving the evolution of Sowa Financial Group, serving on the investment committee and managing the firm’s investment models. He has been a regular contributor to the Moneytalk radio show since 2016 hosting the program Tuesday through Friday night. Every Wednesday evening, he produces a segment on financial and economic history. He also produces a monthly podcast called Financial Context which focuses on his passion for history.
In his spare time Nathan runs a band called Funky Submarine, which plays music written by The Beatles – but in ways you wouldn’t expect. The group is known for its funky grooves and jazzy harmonies, which feature a horn section and vocals. You can learn more about the band at www.funkysubmarine.com.
When Nathan isn’t at the office or playing his bass guitar he can usually be found at his home in Lincoln where he lives with his fiancé, Jenna, and their three sons. Jenna sings and plays trumpet in Funky Submarine.

Our Legacy
Donald J. Sowa, CFP®
Founder (Retired 2024)
Don Sowa recalls how much he always enjoyed getting to know people and helping them find solutions to their needs but felt that in his early years as an insurance agent, his ability to make a real, sustained impact on their wellbeing was limited. When he learned that there was a budding profession that would allow him to partner with people and play a meaningful role at each stage of their retirement journey, he knew he had found his path. Sowa Financial Group was born out of an acknowledgement that the financial services industry needed a place for those seeking straightforward, impartial financial advice from someone willing to put in the time needed to earn their trust. Don always aimed to take the mystery out of investing, using clear and simple language to help investors gain confidence through knowledge, and achieve greater control over their financial lives.
Family has always been at the center of the firm's mission, helping clients build and preserve their wealth not only for their benefit, but for that of their family legacy. Since retiring in 2024, Don has shifted his focus to his own legacy, enjoying more family time by the pool and vacationing in Cape Cod with his biggest fans, his 6 grandchildren and great granddaughter.

Donald earned the Five Star Wealth Manager Award in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.
